Teacher Biographies
Mr. Robb Wainwright
3B Homeroom Teacher [ Instructional Lead ] |
Robb was born in Denver, Colorado in the US. His strong desire in helping learners of all ages find independent success is what drew Robb to the education field. He has taught elementary students in Washington DC, Beirut, Lebanon, and now Budapest. He has also utilized his Reading Master's Degree to step out of the classroom and support teacher and student learning in the role of Reading Specialist / Literacy Coach.
Robb has a strong passion for helping students become agents of their own learning. Robb works to help students develop an efficient learning environment where learning occurs from, and with each other, with the ultimate goal of students being successful on their own. A focus on structure, humor, and manners is evident within his classroom. Riding a bicycle is a great passion of Robb and he is enjoying broadening his scope from road cycling to mountain biking. He enjoys spending time traveling and being in nature with his wife, also an AISB educator. Food is also a great interest as Robb often refers to himself as an eater, and not a cooker. |
Ms. Ági Szentirmai
3B Assistant Teacher |
Ági is a mother of two awesome boys; Bence is 14 and Marci is 11 years old. Ági graduated from Hungarian Teacher Training College in 2002. From 2012-2020 Ági was a substitute teacher in many of the elementary classrooms at AISB, giving her the privilege to get to know and work with about fifty different teachers. Following her first year as a full-time assistant teacher in 2nd grade, Ági is very happy and excited to work with the Grade 3 team. In her free time, Ági loves reading, hiking, and biking. After 26 years, she has returned to her passion of music by taking piano lessons again. Ági also likes watching movies, and enjoying her favourite food, the Hungarian palacsinta (pancake).

Mr. Kevin Fayarchuk
3C Homeroom Teacher |
Originally from Canada, Kevin has taught at the elementary level in Taipei, Taiwan, Zurich, Switzerland and Budapest. Kevin has been actively involved school life in and outside the classroom in roles such as team leader, social studies coordinator, floorball and golf coach. Kevin has been actively involved in Service Learning projects at AISB involving grade 3 students along with high school students and teachers establishing lasting connections with our friends at the Szalonta Children's Home in Romania.
It is Kevin's belief that children learn in a caring, safe environment that allows them to discover, explore, take risks, and ask questions about the world around. Developing a strong connection with students and parents is an essential part of the educational and personal journey for Kevin that will lead students to be the best that they can be. Kevin is an avid hockey player and enjoys biking, hiking and traveling with his wife Melinda, son Aidan and daughter Hannah. |
Ms. Sandra
3C Assistant Teacher |
Sandra was born and raised in Reykjavik, Iceland. She started her AISB journey as a student in 2016, and graduated with the class of 2020. She has worked in the Theatre since she arrived at AISB and been a part of many productions. Sandra loves working with kids and is starting her degree in International Education next fall at the University of Iceland.
In her free time, Sandra likes to be in the theatre, do something creative, and spending time with loved ones. |
Ms. Lauren White
3D Homeroom Teacher |
Lauren grew up in Long Island, New York. She believes children are strong, competent individuals whose voice should be respected and appreciated. Lauren has taught various grade levels in South Korea, Germany and now Budapest, Hungary.
At the centre of Lauren's practice is the belief that inclusion, safety and student wellbeing are of upmost importance. She believes that individual students interests and experiences are key to the learning environment and vital when supporting students with their learning goals. In her free time, Lauren enjoys being active, playing sports, reading graphic novels, traveling and being outdoors. |
Ms. Viki Szinessy
3D Assistant Teacher |
Viki grew up in Budapest, Hungary, and as a teenager, in Toronto, Canada. She graduated from ELTE University and the Hungarian Dance Academy. Viki loves spending time with her family, especially her 4-year-old daughter. In addition, she also enjoys reading, skiing, and traveling.

Ms. Bernadette Saunders

Bernadette grew up in Victoria, Australia, enjoying the freedom of life in the country with her siblings. From a very young age, Bernadette knew that she wanted to become a teacher. She wanted to help to make school a place where all children had the opportunity and support to succeed. Bernadette has taught in schools in regional Australia, and in Beijing, teaching most elementary levels.
At the heart of Bernadette's teaching is the understanding of the importance of creating safe and trusting relationships. With these established, she believes that learning can and will happen, for all children. Bernadette greatly enjoys helping children to discover and pursue individual passions and learning goals. In her free time, Bernadette enjoys fishing, geocaching, games of all kinds, baking, badminton and spontaneous travel. |
Mrs. Maila Catudio
3A Assistant Teacher |
Maila was born in Laguna, Philippines. She taught middle school and high school science classes in the Philippines for eleven years before moving to Budapest. She has also coached elementary students for local, national, and international science competitions.
Maila loves nature and spends time looking for new trails and sites for birdwatching and hiking. She hopes to share her love for nature and environmental stewardship with the AISB community. |
Ms. Bogi Kapin
EAL Teacher |
Bogi was born in 1989 in Budapest, Hungary, and is currently teaching English as an Additional Language in the Elementary School. Her family and friends describe Bogi as someone who has always been passionate about learning languages and, combined with great people and leadership skills, becoming a teacher was an obvious choice for her.
Bogi completed her university studies in Budapest where she earned a B.A. degree in American and Chinese Studies with teaching qualifications. She believes that learning English as well as other languages is very beneficial in today's world, and it equips children with skills that can only be attained by knowing multiple languages. Speaking languages gives us a better understanding of our world and the different cultures around us. Everyone is capable of learning a new language, and Bogi thinks her job is to help kids make it happen. In her free time, Bogi enjoys wakeboarding, snowboarding, skateboarding, paddleboarding, reading and spending time with her loved ones. |
Ms. Olivia Ma
LSS Teacher |
Olivia was born and raised in San Jose, California. She taught elementary Learning Resource in California public schools before moving to Budapest. Olivia focuses on working collaboratively with each student to discover their strengths, preferences, and learning style. She strives to foster student confidence, as she firmly believes that confidence is key to the growth and development of each student learner. In her free time, Olivia enjoys trip planning, traveling, watching drama, cooking and travel shows, sampling new regional cuisines (especially desserts), and going on walks. |
Mr. Pablo Ramirez
LSS Teacher |
Pablo was born in San Antonio, Texas and is currently teaching Learning Resource in the elementary school. Pablo completed his undergraduate studies in Special Education and Elementary Education; he went on to complete his M.A. in Special Education from the University of West Florida.
Pablo began teaching Spanish and English in Virginia to young children who immigrated to the United States. Since Pablo’s family immigrated to the United States from Mexico in 1952, he understood the challenges immigrants faced when moving to a country where a different language was spoken. He spent two years teaching young immigrants English and assisting their parents with matters relating to bank accounts, bills, and doctor’s visits. Pablo has taught Spanish, EAL, 4th Grade, 5th Grade, and Learning Resource in the United States, Germany, and Portugal and now Budapest. In his current role as a learning support teacher, Pablo has the privilege of helping students with unique abilities and challenges to reach their fullest potential. Pablo loves spending quality time with his son Rafael and his wife Karen. To him, family means everything. |
